Six people have been released from bail

The Crown Prosecution Service has ruled there is ‘insufficient evidence’ to support a prosecution into a ‘gang rape’ at Bluewater Shopping Centre last year.

Nearly a year after the attack, which happened on March 6 2016, six people whose bail was due to run out tomorrow (Saturday) have been released without charge.

Eleven people were initially arrested over the attack, but over time that figure dropped.

A Kent Police spokesperson: “Kent Police carried out a full and thorough investigation into the incident of Sunday 6 March 2016, including a review of all available CCTV footage, forensic evidence and mobile telephone data.

“A case was then presented to the Crown Prosecution Service, which ruled there was insufficient evidence to support a prosecution.

“Officers are continuing to support the victim and will review the case should any further information be received.”
