Delays are being reported in the area

Motorists using the M25 are facing delays this lunchtime (Tuesday) after an earlier crash.

The accident involving a lorry has blocked the clockwise carriageway of the motorway at junction two.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.18am following a collision involving a car and a lorry on the A282 London-bound near Junction 2. The lorry also collided with the central reservation.

“No serious injuries have been reported but two lanes are currently closed due to a fuel spillage and heavy smoke from the lorry.”

Queues are reportedly stretching as far back as the Dartford Crossing.

A Highways England spokesperson said: “Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys due to the closure of 2 lanes on the clockwise M25 at junction 1b in Kent following an earlier incident.

“It is expected that the closed lanes will only reopen after the peak traffic period this evening.

“Highways England is working hard to reopen the road as soon as safely possible and is advising drivers to consider alternative routes or to allow extra time for their journey.”
