Urban Gravesham continues campaign against Gravesend Heritage Quarter plans

PUBLISHED: 16:18 05 February 2013

Campaign group Urban Gravesham have vowed to oppose the new proposals for Gravesend’s Heritage Quarter.

The civic society for Gravesend held its annual general meeting last week (28) where members voted unanimously against Edinburgh House’s plans, spokeswoman Gill Emerson said.

She said: “Particular criticism was made of the Eastern Quarter where buildings would be twice the height of the existing medical centre and much larger than the unpopular recently built block of flats at the rear of the Clarendon Hotel.”

Developers Edinburgh House’s plans are being discussed by Gravesham Borough Council who will make a decision by the end of March.

Urban Gravesham said it would continue to fight against the plans which it said “offered very little for the future of the town.”
