A van driver has died after suffering a heart attack at the wheel.

The man, described as in his late 50’s was driving on The Street, New Ash Green, on Wednesday at noon when he is believed to have had a cardiac arrest, lost control of his white Vauxhall Astra van and plunged into a ditch.

Dartford firefighters cut him from the van and paramedics from both air ambulance and South East Coast Ambulance Service administered treatment but he was declared dead at the scene.

Police closed the road until 2.30pm
