Officers responding to the reported theft of vehicle parts from a van in Swanley have tracked down a suspect near Maidstone.

Kent Police were called at 3.16am on Thursday August 23 regarding suspicious activity in a hotel car park at London Road, Swanley.

It was alleged vehicle parts had been removed from a stationary van and placed in a vehicle which then left the scene.

Patrols searched the area and spotted a van at a petrol station on Bluebell Hill, Maidstone.

Officers approached the vehicle and arrested a 36-year-old man from Eltham, London on suspicion of theft.

A quantity of vehicle parts were also seized.

The man was later released pending further investigation.
