X Factor favourite and Gravesend teenager Tamera Foster cruised through the first live show with a strong performance of Chaka Khan’s Ain’t Nobody.

The 16-year-old North West Kent College music technology student put in a confident showing on Saturday night’s live ITV show, putting herself in no danger of being in the bottom two.

All four judges - Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh - were impressed by Tamera’s rendition.

Take That’s Gary was in no doubt about her star quality, saying: “You’ve got the X Factor.”

Nicole, of Pussycat Dolls fame, said: “You’re a force to be reckoned with.”

Tamera has been the subject of controversial newspaper headlines throughout her time on the show but has continually impressed the judges, especially in the final stage before the live shows.

She wowed Nicole and guest judge Mary J Blige in Antigua.

She entered the contest as part of duo Silver Rock with Jerrie Bafundila, but judges decided to split them up due to a lack of chemistry.

Tamera remains the bookies favourite to win the whole competition, with William Hill offering odds of 5/2 compared to Ladbrokes’ 3/1.

Lorna Simpson was the first act to exit after losing in a sing-off to Shelley Smith - there are now 11 remaining.
