People in Dartford could lose their vote following changes to electoral registration

People in Dartford are at risk of losing their vote, under changes to the electoral registration system.

The changes mean 3,500 people could lose their vote, as changes to the registration system will take around 1million people across the country off the register.

People now must register to vote as an individual, not as a household.

Dartford Labour leader Jonathon Hawkes said: “Labour supports the move to individual electoral registration, having legislated for it while in government.

“Soon we have a big choice to make about whether Britain stays in the EU. But if people aren’t on the electoral register, they will not be able to vote and have their say.”
