The council has created this handy video

The council has created a quick guide on what to keep out of residents’ recycling bins.

From next week, Gravesham council will be sending out information across the borough ahead of a change in waste collections.

Since 2014, residents have been putting recycling wheelie bins out every two weeks, while general and food waste were collected weekly.

But from June, general waste will be collected every two weeks, alternating with recycling collections.

Ahead of the change, the video produced by the council can help residents who may still struggle to decide which bin certain waste should go into.

“The introduction of this new general waste bin will allow our recycling rate to continue to rise” explained community services cabinet member Sandra Garside.

“Since 2014, when the recycling wheelie bins were introduced, it’s risen from 24 per cent to 35 per cent and we hope we’ll be able to improve this figure further.”
