The temperature is expected to drop at the weekend

Gravesend has beaten its own record to have the hottest day of the year so far today (Tuesday).

According to Met Office thermometers, the mercury has soared to an impressive 25.8°C in the town.

The figure beats the record set by the town in March, when temperatures hit 21.8°C, making it the hottest March day in five years.

But the glorious spring sunshine won’t last long, with rain forecast in the town tomorrow.

Temperatures are not expected to get any higher than 21°C, with the day set to start and end with rain.

Over the weekend, the Met Office expects temperatures to reach no higher than 17°C.
