More than 130 vehicles were involved in a number of crashes on the A249 Sheppey crossing this morning.

Thick fog is being blamed for the incident, which happened at around 7.15am and left eight people seriously injured.

A total of 27 people needed treatment and ambulance crews have dealth with 200 people at the scene. Firefighters also freed five people from their vehicles on the southbound carriage.
