What’s going on in Gravesend and Dartford for half term?

Gravesend Borough Market is hosting craft and science activity sessions over the half term holiday.

Throughout the week there will be fun activities alongside the regular stalls and the special markets.

• Tuesday May 29, 8am-2pm:

The weekly traditional market offering fruit, veg, cakes, bread and much more.

• 12.30-2.30pm:

Craft activities by Eastgate, with a theme of Butterflies and Bugs, including paint, collage, foam clay and sewing.

• Wednesday May 30, 11am-12.30pm and 2-3.30pm:

Primary Science Workshops - children aged 4-11 can make simple toys related to science that they will keep.

These workshops are fun and educational and relate to different topics in the primary science curriculum.

There will be a different workshop in each session.

• Thursday May 31, 12.30-2.30pm:

Craft activities by Eastgate, with a theme of Butterflies and Bugs, including paint, collage, foam clay and sewing.

• Friday June 1, 11am-12.30pm and 2-3.30pm:

• Saturday June 2, 8am-2pm:

Traditional market offering fruit, veg, cakes, bread and much more.

• Sunday June 3, 10am-2pm:

Farmers’ Market - brand new Farmers’ Market with quality homemade products, premium local goods and much more.

Cllr Harold Craske, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Youth, said: “It is great to see Gravesend Borough Market hosting some fantastic events over the half term.

“The craft activities were popular at Easter so it’s great to have them back and the science workshops sound like great fun and educational too. “With the markets and regular stalls there is a lot to see and do at Gravesend Borough Market this half term.”


Head to Bluewater this half term to enjoy a whole host of family-friendly fun.

Little ones can discover the secret world of pixies, a magical addition to Bluewater’s award-winning Nature Trail, plus come face-to-face with roar-some dinosaurs on the popular in-mall trail. With great shopping and delicious dining too, there’s something for everyone this holiday.

• From May 24 - The Nature Trail with new Pixie Valley

The Nature Trail is blooming!

As you follow the trail, discover Bluewater’s beach, beautiful Swan Lake, a play area and an array of wildlife.

There’s a whole host of exciting new additions too, including a bug hotel, stepping logs and hopscotch to be enjoyed by all.

Plus, to celebrate the arrival of spring, Bluewater is launching Pixie Valley on the Nature Trail.

Families are invited to search for ten tiny magical doors and windows to discover pixies Flora Honey-Blossom, Rosa Clover-Leaf, Oren Elm-Dew and friends!

Little ones can enjoy the enchanted parkland and be a pixie, posing on the fairy-tale thrones and making a wish at the wishing wall.

• Until June 24 - Road-some dinosaur trail

Families looking for an exciting prehistoric adventure are invited to embark on Bluewater’s Dinosaur Trail.

Come within biting distance of twelve dinosaurs positioned in and around the mall, including the heavy horned Triceratops, speedy Velociraptor and watch out for the flying Pteranodon overhead.

Guests can pick up a trail map from one of the concierge desks, discover interesting facts along the way and once all the dinosaurs have been found, pick up a prehistoric prize!

• Gravity Trampoline Park

Spring into action at GraVity Trampoline Park, located in the lower hall of Bluewater’s Plaza (near the cinema) and spanning over 25,000 square feet.

Guests are invited to tackle the world’s first two-storey Obstacle Adventure Course, featuring moving staircases, rotating floors, spinning punch bags, super slides and a “hurricane alley” – for those who dare.

• Showcase cinema de lux

Movie buffs can catch the latest blockbusters, including Sherlock Gnomes, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Show Dogs, at Showcase Cinema de Lux. With 17 screens, including a wall-to-wall XPLUS, it’s the ultimate immersive cinema experience.

• Pirate cove

When the sun’s out, why not visit Pirate Cove Adventure Park, where guests of all ages can navigate their way through two adventure-filled, 18-hole, mini golf courses, featuring pirate ships, cascading waterfalls, castles and sunken boats.
