A ONE-STOP-SHOP for victims of domestic violence and abuse is being launched in the borough.
North Kent Women's Aid has put together a partnership of various support services so victims can get all the help and support they need under one roof.
The free service, due to launch on April 30 in the Citizens Advice Bureau, Windmill Street, Gravesend, will open weekly and will have representatives from solicitors, the police and council housing services available to offer advice and support.
Sylvia Murray, one of the managers at North Kent Women's Aid, a charity that works with victims of domestic violence across north Kent, said: "We think it is a very positive step in the community to have a service like this.
"Before, people in Gravesend looking for help were phoning around, being pushed from pillar to post.
"But now, all of the services these people need are under one roof, and we can address all of their questions and advise them of different options like housing issues, financial problems and legal advice.
"This is a service for all victims, and that does not just mean women. Men are also victims, and are more than welcome to come and see us."
A similar service was launched in Dartford in May last year, which opens every Tuesday between 9.30am and 12noon at the Dartford Citizens Advice Bureau, Trinity Resource Centre, near Holy Trinity Church, Dartford.
Ms Murray added: "The facility in Dartford has been a great success.
"It gives so many more options to people that just wasn't there before.
"We are trying to raise as much awareness as possible for this service. If you need help and support, go and visit them."
The scheme is due to be officially launched on April 24.
It will open its doors on April 30 and will be available weekly between 10am until midday.
