A Youth Market is to be held to give youngsters experience of running a stall

Budding young business people will be able to try out their trading skills during a special event at Gravesend’s newly refurbished Borough Market.

Youngsters aged between 14 and 24 will be given a platform to take a stall in the new hall or share their talent on the stage on Saturday, December 17.

The Youth Market, which is being introduced by Gravesham Borough Council, is run by a team of council apprentices who are encouraging other young people to step up and get selling.

Cabinet member for business development councillor Samir Jassal said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people who are enthusiastic about business to have a go and see what it’s like.

“It’s a perfect platform for people to have a look, come and have some fun and get a taster for what a regular youth market could look like.

“It should also be used as an opportunity for those who are young and have something to sell to give them the confidence to give it a go in an environment where there are other like-minded people.”

People who wish to take part, or those who want more information, can visit the youth market from 10am to 4pm on December 17.

There will also be a training session this Saturday (December 10) from 10am to 12pm at Towncentric, 18a St Georges Square, St Georges Centre, Gravesend.
